This vet practice forgot to lift the phone to me 3 times about medication my dog had run out of and had been on a steroid prescription from them for years, even gave me a prescription for a different K9 god knows what size or breed compared to my small dog ? Never got the impression it was about the love of animals paying customer might not have a super posh voice but a paying customer nine the less would not use again! When the time came to say goodbye to my beloved dog I took her to a different vet I was so annoyed at the oh we should have called 5 days ago and 5 days of a dog being ill ! Speaks volumes

I have been a customer of this practice for many years since Mr McRitchie and Mr Stevenson were the owners and although it changed hands I still continued to use it. Like many customers I have paid a lot of money for the care of my pets over the years and like any pet owner do not grudge paying for them to be healthy and pain free. In April I visited the vet with my dog and advised that a couple of lumps looked suspicious and the vet advised to remove them and test them. I was given a quote and I advised the vet I had insurance and asked questions. The appointment was booked for surgery and I paid the £50 deposit requested . I had used my insurance policy once before and all I had to was to pay the £95 admin fee/excess fee - I was informed that the £50 would be deducted from that . I had hassle the night before the surgery and found that one of the receptionists didn't have the best customer service skills and decided to change vets. However I had to call back and spoke with a trainee nurse who was more helpful and discussed the issue thereafter Mr Lees addressed the issue. I discussed details of my insurance and my insurances admin fee plus the 20% excess that I would have to pay. At no time was I informed that the practice charged an admin fee. My dog had the surgery and thankfully all was well with the results. Today I received an email telling me that the claim had been paid and I called to pay the the 20% percent excess plus Many Pets admin charge. There was a £30 discrepancy in Beechwood figures and my own. I was called later by the 'practice manager' who informed me that the £30 discrepancy was actually their admin charge. I was never informed of this and during the discussion i was told that I had discussed it. DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE!! I had discussed my insurance admin charge but not Beechwood. If I had been informed about it - I wouldn't have an issue with it but I feel conned because I wasn't informed and just a way of getting more money out of the customer and given the fact the first staff member I spoke with today said she didn't have a clue about insurance- once again poor customer service skills! I also didn't like the inference in the practice manager's tone that I was lying. I certainly WASN'T lying. Anyway bill is paid and also Beechwoods own awarded 'tip'. Now time to find a practice that is all about animals and good customer service. I would add that through the years there have been a couple of nurses (one I believe is called Lorraine) who are lovely and do care about animals.

Great experience with Beechwood Vets. Growing up they looked after our family cats until it was their time to pass and looked after them right to the very end. So much empathy and respect from staff when we lost Maisie and Junior. As an adult and having my own pets it was only right I’d return here with my own guinea pigs and dog. Always happy to help, especially having the app which is so handy! They helped with our rescue dog so much and always check over our little piggies. Overall very positive experience over the years and the staff are second to none and always give you the time.
