Avenues Veterinary Group describes itself as an independent small-animal practice (not part of a corporate group) and also operates as a veterinary nurse training facility. The website highlights ongoing investment in diagnostic and treatment facilities, and owners mention in reviews that the practice does in-house surgery and blood tests.
Recent reviews include practical details such as same-day appointments on short notice, clear medication instructions, and care for a range of pets including kittens (vaccinations/jabs), dogs (including gastroenteritis management), cats, and a hamster (antibiotics for a suspected chest infection). Experiences are mixed: many long-term clients describe consistent support over years, while a small number report serious concerns about misdiagnosis, communication, and complaint handling.

I adopted a kitten Hank recently and this is where I take him for his jags ect. Hank seems to like the vets here, who have been fantastic with him.

My dog has had excellent care since he was 12 weeks old from Ronan and the other vets . Staff are always pleasant and helpful. So glad this practice is not part of a big company.

I could write a sprawling negative review about this vet practice but the story is so long that I think I’d run out of space. I made a detailed and measured complaint about the continuous issues and negligence we experienced from this practice - both veterinary staff and reception staff. I also complained about the attitude of staff as I found them to be rude, obtuse and unempathetic. The practice response initially was to advise that it was “disappointing” and drag their heels in responding formally, trying to persuade me to go elsewhere despite my dog being very unwell and moving to another vet would be very stressful. Finally, they decided to ask us to leave the practice using offensive and inflammatory language in the process, at a time when our dog was incredibly unwell. Our dog sadly has now passed away and it appears clear from speaking with our new vet that Avenues ignored obvious early signs of the problem and neglected to investigate further which could have, at the very least, prolonged her life. Nicola is a vile human being who should not be in an industry dealing with people at the hardest times of their lives. Even after agreeing to engage with a mediation service that she was not legally required to engage with, she chose to double down on her unempathetic and ignorant stance and would not even offer an apology. I have never had such a bad experience from an organisation in my life - they are unprofessional and disrespectful.

Welcomed us with a big smile & friendly greeting when we were on holiday with our new sick pup. Gave good clear instructions with the required medication & special kibble to help clear up a gastroenteritis problem. 😍

Fantastic practice. Really caring vets and staff. Been going here for over 25 years with both cats and dogs. Recommend their monthly direct plan for vaccinations well worth it. Private practice who do their own surgeries and blood tests. I find their charges very reasonable. They also have a branch in Mount Florida which my daughter attends same vets and services.

I gave the benefit of the doubt for several years too long. My cat has just passed away from a completely different issue than the one they misdiagnosed for several years, her symptoms cleared up completely for the last week she was alive. Paid several hundred pounds for xrays which I now doubt ever took place. On top of this the same vet at this location was offhand and asked why my cat's health even mattered on my final visit there. I am now wary of taking on another pet as there are so many people in the industry that see the job as a meal ticket instead of actually listening or caring about animals.

Where to start... We lost our beloved Nelly this week. After a difficult beginning in life, we rescued her when she was just one year old. Despite facing many challenges over the years, including epilepsy, glaucoma, and other health issues, we received nothing but kindness and exceptional care from everyone here. I can’t thank the entire staff enough for the compassion and support they’ve shown us throughout Nelly’s journey. Even in the small reception area, we always felt comforted by the warmth of the staff and the empathy of fellow pet owners. Every phone call was met with patience, understanding, and respect. From both me, Kacie and Nelly, thank you.

Brought our Syrian hamster Tapioca to this vets as she was feeling a bit under the weather and was coming down with appeared to be a chest infection. I rang them up on short notice and the receptionist was extremely lovely and accommodating, getting us a same day appointment. She was seen within a few hours and prescribed antibiotics which worked absolute wonders on her health and she's back to her usual great form! An excellent vet practice that genuinely seems to care about animals. Thank you so much for everything once again!
