I feel compelled to share my experience regarding the care of my dog, Crumble, following her terminal diagnosis. While certain individual vets at the practice were compassionate, including the vet who gave the initial diagnosis and the vet who checked her for an active bleed, our overall experience with communication, referral support, and palliative care was deeply disappointing. When requesting a referral to oncology for a CT scan, the consulting vet strongly discouraged it, calling it "pointless" and claiming she would not last weeks. I was given wildly inaccurate estimates, including being told an urgent referral consult alone would be £600 and a CT scan would cost £4,000, exhausting my insurance quickly. In reality, the referral consult was £280 and the entire procedure including CT scan, bloods, and sampling came to around £2,100. At the end of that same consultation, the only palliative guidance offered was to bring her in "when she is sick or collapses" and give paracetamol. Furthermore, after the specialist oncology report confirming a third tumour was sent directly to The Avenues, we received zero follow up from the practice to check on Crumble or discuss a palliative plan. Finally, when trying to secure Gabapentin for palliative comfort as explicitly advised in the oncologist's report, I faced unnecessary resistance despite Crumble having been seen three times that week. When collecting the prescription, a vet called out from a room across the reception area, cutting me off and repeatedly stating she had already "bent the rules" for us. Framing essential palliative care for a terminally ill, anxious dog as "rule bending" in front of reception showed a severe lack of empathy and professionalism. We have since transferred Crumble’s care to another practice where she is receiving compassionate and well coordinated palliative support. I submitted a detailed formal complaint regarding these matters and have received no acknowledgment or response, which only confirms that moving practices was the absolute right decision. I would strongly advise other owners facing end of life care for their pets to be aware of these communication and support failings.

I had two Westies Mac and hamish and they got the best care that ever to me they all went out there way too make my dogs happy I would recommend this vet I am looking for another wee Westies and I will be taking it to the avenues x

Cannot thank the staff here enough. After getting into a fight, Biscoff suffered a deep laceration to his face. Within 3 & a half hours of the fight, Biscoff had had a consultation, had undergone surgery to apply stitches & was back home resting! Your pets are in safe hands here!

My kitten Hank was in here yesterday for neutering, they obviously did a fantastic job because he was fine when he got home, not shook up or anything. The ladies clearly have a very good bedside manner when dealing with the animals they treat.
