Southside Veterinary Clinic describes itself as an independent practice, with same-day appointments and “cutting edge diagnostic and surgical facilities.” The clinic environment is repeatedly noted as being set up to reduce stress (the website offers fear-free appointments, and reviews mention a coffee bar/coffee shop and a more relaxed feel than a typical clinical setting). Reviews include multiple examples of surgery and aftercare (including a “major op,” and one account of dental surgery removing seven teeth) and support around difficult end-of-life decisions (owners describing being able to stay with their pet and a “quick and painless” euthanasia process).
Feedback is not fully consistent: alongside many accounts of clear explanations and compassionate handling, one recent 1‑star review alleges missed warning signs over multiple visits that preceded a dog’s death.
4.7 stars from 40 reviews. - Surgery and follow-on care are mentioned repeatedly, including a “major op and after care,” puppy surgery, and a dental procedure involving seven extractions.

Took excellent care of my Spaniel. He required a major op and after care.

Their negligence and blasé attitude killed my dog. I don't say this lightly and it's been several months now, but I want people who go here to understand that the staff here have displayed a lack of care on a medical level that in my opinion led to the preventable death of my dog. I originally came to them for help with his teeth, which they operated to remove seven of. This to their credit, went over well despite his heart problems, however it became quite clear that he developed tremendous problems eating after that and I poceeded to come and seek help from them several times over the course of a half year. Every time my concerns over his clearly apparent issues and symptoms were shrugged off, saying his vitals are normal, there's nothing wrong with him. He died of a ruptured gall bladder after I had once more gone to see them and said the colour of his stool was concering, but did nothing and didn't even tell me to go to the hospital. Just gave him back to me and told me to keep an eye on him. I had to rush him to the emergency vet that night when it got worse and when they finally got him under for surgery he just couldn't take the anaesthetic anymore. They next day Southside vets called me about something and when I told the person he passed away, she that "oh, that's fine." A word directly to southside vets: do not dare to contact me. Do not answer this review. I do not want to hear a word out of you. "That's fine" was plenty. I genuinely hope you go and find a different career.

Very impressed with our first experience of SVC. Kerry (nurse) and Carly (reception) showed such compassion and kindness when we brought our cat Elvis in. Everything explained, time given. Good customer service and quality care. Thank you to all.

We took our wee babe here for consultation after he had fluid drained from his chest but he couldn’t be saved unfortunately and he was suffering so we made the tough decision to put him to sleep. The euthanasia process was quick and painless. We got to spend his last moments with him. The vet was incredibly patient and understanding. I appreciate all of the staff at Southside Vet Clinic for their compassion and kindness. I would highly recommend them. Thank you so much.

I am so pleased we registered with Southside Veterinary Clinic. My dog has complex behavioural needs and a deep fear of being handled by strangers, so vet visits have always been incredibly stressful for both of us. The care she receives here is exceptional. Layla is patient, calm and completely in control of the environment. Yasmin is gentle and positive which is so reassuring. A special thanks to Rebekah who has taken the time to understand and settle my nerves. The whole team has made effort to build trust, and I am totally confident my dog is in safe and capable hands.

We're absolutely loving our new vets for our wee puppy Archie. The staff are so friendly and already given us lots of tips and tricks for our pup as his breed is new to us, we had a siberian husky and from 1yr old previously so a golden retriever puppy is very new to us! We can't wait for the puppy socialising classes next week.

Can’t praise highly enough . The practice has a lovely feel with coffee bar and relaxing which can only help anxious animals . Staff highly experienced , knowledgable and reassuring . My 12 week old pup had to have surgery and they were brilliant . Owners came and introduced themselves and really made you feel welcome and the care for the animals at forefront. Staff so friendly & welcoming . It feels like a family practice and genuine experience of not only great care but professionalism & knowledge in all they do. A very different approach to usual “clinical feel” vet practice but one I’d highly recommend .
