Vets Now is part of the Vets Now emergency veterinary group and is set up as a dedicated 24/7 pet emergency hospital (opened in 2009) providing both emergency and referral care for dogs, cats and small animals. The website describes specialist/referral services including oncology, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, anaesthesia and diagnostic imaging, with diagnostics and treatment “under one roof.”
From recent reviews, owners commonly describe very fast triage on arrival (including being taken straight to intensive/critical care), frequent updates during hospital stays (calls and, in some cases, emailed photos), and information being passed on to the pet’s usual vet. One recent review reports a conflicting experience: strong praise for reception staff but concerns about some clinicians focusing on price early, discharge without a clear diagnosis, and variable communication between clinicians.
Google rating: 4.5 stars from 1,762 reviews. - Rapid response and triage, including being seen quickly overnight/early morning and patients being taken straight to intensive/critical care when severely unwell.

Exceptional service for our pet who is 13 years. The whole team from reception to specialist consultants are caring, compassionate, listen and support owners to understand the whole clinical pathway. We have absolute confidence in everything they do. We feel supported to manage ongoing care with confidence. Our journey isn’t over with Vets Now. So thanks very much and keep doing what you do so well for all the small animals you are referred. Dr Rae

The staff were incredible and looked after us and our Dachshund, taking the time to keep us frequently informed of her progress all day New Years Day. We couldn't thank them enough; they provide a truly invaluable service.

Excellent service from our first contact by telephone to being seen very quickly by a vet to finalising details of passing information to our own vet by the colleague at reception. Thank you so much for being there for us at such a late hour on the first of January! Highly recommend this service.

I want to give 2 stars because my experience was mixed. First of all, the reception team on Sunday afternoon and again at checkout were very professional and empathetic — honestly, they deserve 10 stars. My issue is not about the cost; I would pay any price for the health of my family member (my pet). I also understand that clients should know the costs upfront. However, when I arrived and tried to explain what was happening with my puppy, the person who first spoke to me (not sure if she was a doctor or a student) started talking quickly and focused mainly on the price instead of listening. That felt cold and dismissive at such a stressful moment. Then, on checkout the next day, we were dismissed without a clear diagnosis and by vets who were quite rude. They claimed to be pet lovers — and maybe some truly are — but professionalism should come first. You mentioned that most of the costs go to wages; if that’s true, please make sure you’re rewarding and keeping the genuinely caring professionals, because they make all the difference. On our second visit, my puppy was finally helped — but only after we were transferred to another doctor, who immediately understood what was going on and gave us answers. That made me wonder: are you not even a little bit ashamed that we left your clinic the first time without any diagnosis? There are good, caring people on your team — but also others who clearly need more training in empathy and communication.

My dog was seriously ill when he was admitted. My vet phoned ahead to let them know I was on my way and he was taken to intensive care as soon as I arrived. I had constant updates and was allowed to visit daily during his 4 night stay. I couldn’t make it to visit 1 night and they emailed me pictures of him for peace of mind. Everything was explained to me all the way through the process and upon discharge the aftercare instructions were very clear. The staff undoubtedly saved my wee man’s life and I am eternally grateful!

Vets Now saw my dog Monty several times towards the end of his life. They were always so kind and patient with me when explaining his diagnosis, and would repeats things as many times as I asked and never made me feel stupid. I felt they really cared about him and had his best interests at heart ❤️

We can not thank all the staff from Vets Now and the critical care team plus the surgical team. You are all amazing, you saved our Olly's life. When we arrived at the centre on a Saturday afternoon with our very ill dog Olly, they were waiting on him to arrive and as soon as we walked in, he was taken straight away to Critical Care, as they thought he had a ruptured Gallbladder. Carmen explained everything that was going to happen to olly and we stayed as we were over 50 minutes away. Olly had to get more xrays to make sure his heart was ok as well. We then got a call to say the xray was all good and he was on his way to surgery . We then came home as this was about 7 at night , we had a very nervous wait and then the phone went at around 10.30 . Leonor, his surgeon, was so lovely and explained what had been done and it was a ruptured gallbladder he had. They removed the gallbladder and all the bile around his abdomen plus some of his liver . We were still in the very early days but he was doing really well, Kara from the Icu gave us update calls in the morning and in the evening telling us how he was getting on and also sent us photos each day. The care the whole team provided for Olly was outstanding Thank You all so much our little boy is home and making a fantastic recovery 💕.
